go to Ward's Pharmacy in Ellisville. It's the second oldest pharmacy in the state. Every day at 2:00 p.m. the local businessmen drink coffee and solve the world's problems until about 2:30. Sam Bowers was a regular but he kept to himself and sat in a corner reading a USA today. Smoking was banned recently but you can still get a helluva milkshake, malt, etc. Cool place.

It's on 45 south below Buckatunna. I have been eating there since I was a child. They have great slaw as well as fish.

Growing up in neighboring Yazoo County, I saw a lot of these desolate roads on afternoon beer and back roads trips that turned into where the fuck are we and how did we get here trips in the middle of quite a few nights(we ended up in Cleveland as the sun was rising one morning). Most of these trips were in the spring and fall during planting and picking seasons. Anything on the menu is good, but make sure you order the gumbo for an appetizer and the breaded pudding for a dessert.

I agree with a previous poster, you need to visit the Lauren Rogers Museum. Some interesting stuff in there.

Tylertown has a great catfish place (Stogner's Fish Camp). In June their is the annual dairy festival at holmes water park. The bogue chitto river has tube and canoe rentals.

Nobody lives in Issaquena County from what I can tell...

In 1860, Issaquena County had a population of about 8k, with about 7.5k being slaves. That's about the only interesting thing I know about that place. It had the highest slave:person ratio of any county in the country.

there isn't really much to do there though. They did just build a huge man-made lake a couple years ago called Lake Okissa. It's a good place to fish and they often have bass tournaments that my father in law likes to compete in.

When you're passing through Noxubee County, stop at the Mennonite Deli/Bakery in Brooksville. It's right on the west side of 45. Great food, all made from scratch. While then going south on 45, stop in Wahalak at the Back Porch Cafe. Get the burger and all the fixings. The old man that cooks is quite the talker. Don't leave food on your plate when you're done either.

Its a really cool place if your into nature and such. The endangered red Cockheaded (giggity) Woodpecker is indigenous to the area and nest there.
