I don't know this guy you are talking about, but if he's from a big time Texas HS football program, then he's probably been in a great weight and conditioning program already, and while that's good for having him more prepared for playing early at the D-1 level, what you are seeing at the high school level may already be the finished product. In other words, he may not have a ton of room for growth.

He played a lot on special teams, barely ever played on defense.

And I say he's solid because I read coaches' quotes and practice reports. I assume the average Ole Miss fan doesn't read all that about the Hog football team. Maybe I'm wrong, and Ole Miss fans are actually really worried that Petrino is going to be a success, that Nutt really is what we say he is, and as such read every last thing about Hog football hoping to be proven wrong.

He was an exellent HIGH SCHOOL player in a large classification in Texas, and has great measureables. That means he should HOPEFULLY be a solid SEC player.

but calling a player excellent before he steps on campus is stupid. If he really was excellent, how did Texas, Texas A & M, or Texas Tech not offer him? It's rare an excellent player is not offered by any of the 3 major in state schools. That doesn't mean he isn't going to be good, it just means that it's probably naive to think he is already excellent.

Patrick Patterson is a very highly rated prospect who had offers everywhere. I'm not going to call...

He only made 5 tackles but he did play alot for Arkie and Petrino last year, so you must be careful with your words, right...Solid or not solid, that is the question...

you cannot rationally call Battle a "solid" player and call a HS kid who hasn't played a down of college ball an "excellent" player, based solely off of his height, weight, and what he did in HS.

B) A rant? I never said he wasn't solid....all I said there was no way you guys could remember him being solid because he only made 5 tackles last year. Surely you didn't see one of those five tackles and say "damn, that guy is a solid player." I even said in the same post you are referring to that it would be nice to have...

A - He's listed on your teams official site as 5'11 222.
B - You just make a rant about calling Battle a "solid" player and then you make the jump to calling a white HS kid "excellent" just because he's got 3 more inches of height. Dude runs a 4.64 40 and is white. Only got lower tier Big 12 offers. No other SEC offers. I would hold off calling him excellent until, you know, he actually plays a down of college football.
