Grad school at MSU some 17 years ago... going for the History MA.

Sunday night, 6 p.m-ish... After running by Gooch's Deli to get (and eat) a sandwich, I start work on a 20-page paper due Monday (I think Confederate diplomacy, but I can't remember since it had nothing to do with my thesis topic). I also have another 20-page paper due Wednesday (on the timber industry-- I remember that one since my thesis was economic in nature and the prof was my major advisor, Scott)....

I don't know about all that. I strongly disliked her and still do, but I don't question her abilities as a teacher. In 45 hours of English, I rarely saw something that I hadn't seen from her.

My English teacher at Oxford High had us do a research paper that took most of the semester and required us to research it at the Ole Miss library in depth, and set it up like a college paper with citations and footnotes and bibliography, etc. The paper was probably more than 20 pages long.

And we had to do the fucker on a TYPEWRITER (except I guess the few in class whose families had a Brother word processor or something).

Sorting through literary criticism will teach you a lot more. And the good thing is a ton of people at Ole Miss also when to shitty high schools, so when you do bust out some well-researched articles that can't be found on Wikipedia, the teachers love it.

Seems like you had a great teacher; I had a bitch that was retiring in three months and couldn't care less about how ready we were for college. My ADHD + their Apathy = fail.

I got to college algebra this summer without knowing how to factor or solve for X, and made a fucking 56 on my first test.

I threw out everything I "learned" at that shithole, got the algebra book and just restarted, studying at least 3 hours a night. I scratched an A out of that...
