Auburn did it in the front yard I think | #42

or something stupid like that. It happened before the ATO one, cause I remember thinking they were even dumber because it had just happened.

I didn't kill anything...but I sure as shit saw stuff like that happen | #45
All true. In fact, the story doesn't do the party justice. It was some serious "Lord of the Flies" type shit. Also, this was just a year after we'd all been kicked out the entire chapter except the pledges for "alleged hazing" and a "culture of accepted drug abuse". All alleged mind you. The oldest guys that year were sophomores so it was truly the insane running the asylum. It's weird to think that fraternities rely on the judgement of 20 year olds to slow people down, but I suppose it's true. As far as the Dekes at LSU, they did shit that made our Barnyard party look like a sunset shuffleboard party on the Veranda Deck on a Carnival Cruise Line ship. After Kappa Sigs got kicked off campus, we all kind of migrated over there. The video that's linked below looks like it's from the mid-80's. I can assure that not a damn thing was a bit different when I was there during the mid-90's. The SAE's death was alcohol poisoning. Bid day shit. Could have happened to pretty much any fraternity, anywhere. LSU's alcohol culture the years before that guy died was pretty wild west inspired. Keg trucks would park in the lots that all the houses shared and beer was free. Everybody got shit canned, but you very rarely saw liquor. The year the SAE died was the first year that Bid Day festivities were at bars. I'm not saying that the policy killed the guy, but to not see any sort of link between the two is pretty naive.

Rumor has it that once the Deke's at Ole Miss | #46
|
got hammered because they were having a tug -of -war on the front lawn with another frat (complete with a mud pit and the works) and they grabbed a campus
storm trooper and threw him in the mud, in uniform, and then piled on him. They were asked to leave for a year or two over that.

I actually heard... | #47

that one night the Dekes put out cotton balls all in the Phi Beta Sigma's yard(black frat next door). Then the next morning while they were picking it up
the Dekes took pictures of it.
THATS MY BALL WHODI. |

The Dekes at LSU are at a different level than any other chapter of any fraternity in the South.
I remember as a Junior in High School going to Fort Walton for Spring Break, and there were a block of hotel rooms for the Dekes at the Blue Ho, and I was sleeping on the floor of a hotel room with some buddies that weren't dekes but we went to school with a good many of them and were hanging out in the patio area in the back of the hotel along with about 100 other high school/college kids and all of sudden you see TV's and basically anything not nailed down flying out of several hotel rooms. Every time something got thrown the cheers got louder and louder. The Deke house at LSU is the one frat house I purposefully avoided if I was hammered, because I didn't want to end up passing out there. I saw a guy that wasn't a Deke pass out there, I think the guy may still be in counseling. |

Did Richard Barrett write this? | #49
No other fraternity in the nation had as many of its members fighting in the War of Northern Agression as DKE's Chi chapter. Must still be bitter... |

a really good friend of mine was a freshman Kappa Sig at LSU | #50

when that happened. He told me the story the summer after his freshman year. Absolutely insane
Chris Wallace: "They say that Shepard Smith is like a landmark there (Oxford). It's Eli Manning and Shepard Smith."
Shepard Smith: "Yea. There's a statue to me right there at the end of the bar." |

Sparky told me that the Dekes got kicked off the first time for a hazing incident that went down the night they all were supposed to get their pins. They had
them out in the middle of nowhere in a valley. On top of one hill was a table with all the pins. They were told to go to the top of the other hill and crawl
down, then up the other hill to get their pin. The actives would hop out and knock them back down the hill and they would have to start over. Apparently, it
just went on all night and it was a particularly nasty night...think January in Oxford. Anyway, just what I have heard.
I have heard all kinds of other stories...dropping a fake Santa out of a helicopter after a real one had thrown presents out, drive by in front of special needs kids. My dad told me that when he was in school - late 50's - that they burned their house down, b/c they thought they were getting a new one. He said he sat there and watched it, so i want to believe that one. |
