Ask NAFOOM: Dog people (and Steve Holt) |
Lead | ||
|
So I want a new dog. I've narrowed it down to two: Papillon or Yorkie. I would just like for you all to chime in with your opinion of either and give pros
and cons. Also, Steve Holt wants an American Bulldog so help him out too.. I already have a Lab on reserve at Wildrose that I'm getting for my boyfriend. I
just want a dog for myself.. Thanks.. Girly post, I know.

Girlie dogs, too | #1 | ||

Don't bring them to my house. They'll become lunch for my dogs.

I would suggest any dog that doesn't need to be groomed regularly. That shit will get old quick. Both of these dogs have to be groomed.
I would suggest a minature Jack Russell (though they can be hyper) or a Dachshund if you're looking to stay small. Pugs are cool too. My very favorite small dog is the Norwich Terrier. They are graet dogs. My childhood dog was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. They have great personalities but shed a ton. If you are dead set on the two you mentioned I would go with the Yorkie. They just look better than the Papillon. |

My wife and I have a 1 3/4 year old. She tends to be hyper from time to time but only when new people are around or if we are playing yard games. She loves big
dogs and hates other little dogs. Now big dogs don't necessary like her because she chases them while snapping at their feet and she steals their toys.
We don't really do much grooming with ours. We brush her hair about once a week and when she goes to the vet they trim around her eyes, paws and but,t but that is about it. Another great thing about a yorkie is that they do not shed at all. You would think they would with all that hair but they don't.

I just got one of these about two weeks ago...cool little dog. They are hypoallergenic and have the best demeanor of any dog I've ever owned.

We got one on the way home from the Cotton Bowl. They are hypoallergenic, smart, even-tempered, trainable, and they don't shed. You would think that a
little white dog like that would seem girly or annoying, but she's athletic and quite strong for all of her 9 lbs (she's only 6 months, she'll
probably get up to 12-13 lbs.), and the only annoyance we've had with her is a little barking. If she gets a good amount of exercise, she won't bark
as much, either. She's good with other dogs, and if properly socialized can be great with kids, too. If you are looking for a yorkie (which is a terrier)
you might as well get a Westie, Scottie, or Cairn, all of which are excellent terriers.

And maybe we just got unlucky and picked the most mentally challenged pup in the litter...both times. I swear they are 2 of the dumbest dogs ever. But I can
really say that my Boston Terrier does a really good job at making most dogs look stupid in comparison. Boston's are the shit and I would highly recommend
you looking into getting one. My dog understands English, he just can't vocalize it. They come in three sizes, small is around 12 pounds, med. is about 16
pounds, and large is about 20-22 pounds. Very low hair maintenance, very loyal. Good dog choice.

You are buying a Wild Rose dog for your boyfriend? Have you seen what he charges for his dogs? You can get just as good a dog from American bloodlines by doing
a little bit of research....
