It has made me a bit more hesitant, but airfares are much cheaper this year than last, the exchange rate is the best in years, and there are some great deals
out there on hotels, etc...

shit's cheap yo'. I'm currently looking at a few vacations this summer. Houses at the beach are ridiculously cheap. As are airplane tickets.
Also trying to plan a week in Europe, as tickets are as low as $400 round trip.

Are you in an industry suffering a lot of cut-backs? Has you company been laying people off? If you are just being hesitant because of "the
economy", but you are not concerned about your job situation or your cash flow, then that's being way too conservative. I think that is something
that is happening a good bit and is contributing even more to the problem.

We got 4 nights at the Caribbean Beach Resort in a pirate room (yarrrrgh - my 4 year old is going to dig this), 4 days worth of the meal plan (lunch, dinner,
snack) and 5 days' worth of park tickets for the 4 of us for $1800. That's pretty darn reasonable for Disney.

because while the exchange rate of just under 1.40 is somewhat better than last summers peak of 1.60ish, Europe is still not very dollar friendly.

Went to Vegas three weeks ago for the Supercross Championship, and I'm headed back to Vegas for a weekend, and Scottsdale for 4 days of golf.
That being said, I've been having a great deal of success in making some extra cash through the volatile market. This year has been profitable on my end, however I have met a few gentlemen recently that are on the other end of the deal. |
