Buk? Hmmm....not me. | #3

I could get behind Irwin on Friday night, but now way I go with Buk. That is how you get beat.

No doubt. | #5 | ||

You're playing with fire when you start Buk game one...he's shown he can be quasi-consistent in relief on the weekend and spot start but has shit the bed too many times to start game one of a regional. |

After how well he pitched against Georgia, I'd rather throw Baker | #6
|
And save Pom for Mizzou/WKU and Irwin for the clincher Sunday.

Pom doesn't have four inning disease, he should be fine. I would have gone with Irwin though** | #8

I was talking about Baker. | #9

Irwin game one...Pom game two. Then hopefully have a joint effort against somebody's midweek guy in the championship game. That's what I would do.
Either way, do not pitch Baker or Buk past the fourth or at least have somebody on stand-by if one person gets on. |

After listening to Lafferty last night on... | #10
|
Rebel yell hotline, I'm confident that this must have been the best decision matchup-wise. Because even as of yesterday evening when I was listening to
the show, Lafferty said they were still going through scouting reports and looking at specific tendancies of all of the teams in our regional before deciding
on who to throw on which day.
So while alot of the arm-chair quarterbacks may disagree with throwing Pomz on Friday, I will go with the coaches who have scouted and looked at the matchups and tendancies of the different teams. It may be a situation where a guy like Buk matches up better with Mizzu and Irwin may match up better against a team like Western Kentucky, so they decided to start Pomeranz on Friday against Monmouth. Point being, the coaches did their homework and went with this decision. It wasn't a gut decision. Hell, they didn't even know yesterday what they were going to do. So they've thought about the situation and this is what they have chosen to do based on scouting other teams in our regional and I will not second guess the decision one bit.
"I just want everyone to promise that when someone decides to throw a party, drink some beer, toss some meat that we're not gonna protest. We're not gonna protest?"

I'm just saying if we can't beat Monmouth with buk we can't win the regional anyway. I def think baker or irwin would be better.

oxfordstudy wrote: That doesn't make sense. Buk is prone to blow up on occasion. It's possible that he could lose to Monmouth and end up costing us the regional. We can definitely win the regional with someone else starting that game. I'm fine with not pitching your ace against the 4 seed, but if you don't, you should go with your second best pitcher, not your 3rd or 4th guy. Hopefully Irwin is throwing Game 2 with Pomz starting Friday. I'm fine with Bukvich or Baker starting a Game 3 against someone else's midweek assuming we get that far. |

He won at auburn and at arkansas I would feel good seing him go 5 innings against monmouth. I do see what your saying though about throwing irwin though,
winning game 1 is pretty important

Bianco will be second guessed big time if we don't win the regional. | #18
|
That's what happens when you have this fan base and expectations and no trips to Omaha. If we don't win the regional, arguments that the pitching
decisions didn't matter and/or Bittle was hurt will fall on deaf ears. I actually think Bianco did a great job this year regardless of the outcome of the
regional (I certainly didn't feel this way early on) but a lot of fans won't. Maybe its good he's coaching w/out taking into account professional
consequences.

You can't assume just because we're playing a 4 seed that will score a ton of runs... | #19
|
Ole Miss as regional host in opening games against 4 seeds:
04' vs. Western Kentucky 0 runs 05' vs. Maine 5 runs (our best offensive team maybe ever) 06' vs. Bethune Cookman 3 runs 07' vs. Sam Houston State 14 runs 3 of 4 games as the 1 seed at home we have scored less than 5 runs gottathrowPOMku |

Of course, that's a worst case scenario. We could just win the whole godamned thing.
