Your first place New York Yankees set a major league record last night by playing 18 consecutive games without making an error. The 26-time World Series
champion Bronx Bombers slapped around Cleveland in the 5-2 victory and are set another victory tonight as the lowly Texas Rangers, a team unfortunate enough to
be associated with draft-dodger George W. Bush, will have to summon enough courage to venture into YANKEE STADIUM for their coming ass whipping.

They're all a bunch of overpaid crybabies anyway.

The same way I became a Celtics fan. My dad admired the Mick and Bill Russell from his era. I picked up on it early.
I did admire Dale Murphy's Braves for a short time. I just never could do the same thing as the rest of the kids in the south.....ie chear for the cards/cubs/braves. And I'm not one of these bandwagon guys. I started following the Yankees around 80-81. They didn't win another AL pennant after 81 until 96. I spent the years of my youth cheering for Don Mattingly and some futile Yankee teams. I happened to catch the Celts just as Bird came on the scene. |

Go to bat as many times as he did in the launching pad/armpit that was Fulton County Stadium, and sure, sooner or later you'll hit some home runs. Cardinals, too. Every little snot-nosed shit was a Cardinal fan because... well he didn't know why. Don't really have that much against the Cubs. Been going to Wrigley since before the lights, have had seats all over it, from front row over the ivy to three rows behind home plate. Great park and neighborhood, even if they do play in that fucking minor league. |

Grew Up a Yankees fan | #15 | ||

My father grew up a Yankees fan pulling for Mickey Mantle. From the time I was old enough to know what baseball was, I pulled for the Yankees. I grew up in
the 80's a Yankees fan, followed them thru the 1990's in college, and still love them today. I love the Yankees.

took me to my first baseball game at Yankee stadium. I was a huge fan of those teams: Chambliss, Bucky Dent, Willie Randloph, Craig Nettles, Reggie Jackson,
Thurman Munson, Gossage (although he was a bit later), Catfish Hunter (although he was a bit earlier), Mickey Rivers. The LA teams from that era (bro's
favorite because we always had to be rivals) were also awsome.

Look, If you have a reason to like the Yankees, YAY! In my opinion, they represent everything that is wrong with Major League Baseball.
