Bored Topic: Nafoomers Greatest Sports Achievement? |
Lead | ||
|
What is your personal best sports achievement in your life? Mine would have to be 13 year old AAU regional baseball tournament I threw a complete game shutout
(7 innings) on fifty something pitches allowing only 1 hit. I had a curve before most people. It wasn't so pretty in highschool when I had only an 80mph
fastball.

Your favorite sports team scores a game tying point, you find a dollar in the street, you see someone you hate get their ass kicked in public, all of these blissful moments deserve, nay, demand the most communal of public displays of pleasure: The Landshark. |

Or being the only baseball player in the history of MHSAA who could throw above 85 who never so much as got a sniff for college ball.
I averaged about 20 strikeouts per nine innings, opponents had probably a .200 batting average against me, and my whip was probably about 5.00. I could throw it through a brick wall, but I was just as likely to throw it over the brick wall, short hop it against the brick wall, or hit someone standing about twenty feet to the side of the brick wall. WE READY!

achievement.

in two games on one night, i was 6-6 with 4 HRs and 2 2Bs, one of which hit the fence in the air and the other one-hopped to the fence. i also was
intentionally walked twice, the first time being in the bottom of the 7th, tie game, man on first, and no one out. they walked me and put the winning run on
second - they were just that scared of me...
i lost count, but i think i had 14 RBIs in the 2 games. |

12 years old in Little League. Struck out 17, walked one and the other out came from a bunt who I threw out.
Finished my high school career with an 11-0 record as a pitcher. Never hit 80 but could hit spots and could throw the 2 and 4 seam fastball, a slider and change up for strikes. |

In the playoffs when I was at MSU. I don't care that he was being moved to LB, that fucker was fast as hell and could shoot. Nor do I care that he created
all of his own shots b/c I couldn't guard him, and that all my points came b/c our other scorers were not there and my teammates set screen after screen to
get me open. We also won the game. We kept up with it, and he talked shit the entire game. Finally tally was something like 28-27.
Runners up: Hit somewhere between .750 and .800 in 10 year old little league. Then played for the all-star team that won state. We got a billboard on the fence at NJYB. Scored 21 points on the new all black private school my senior year. Was either the only or one of 2-3 20 point performances for the whole season by anyone on the team. Was a down year for us. I submit we had a shitty coach. I also was on a team that had 3 separate players go 4-4 with 4 hrs against us in a single season. |

his senior year, and I was only a Junior. Held him below his scoring average, and was also told that I would get fucked up if I grabbed his jersey one more
time.
We lost, but at that time I felt that I held up against the best player I would ever play against. I think he scored something like 17 points, and scared the shit out of me, I actually played like I wasn't scared. Worst moment, was the same year, bricking the second of two free throws with no time left to potentially send the game into overtime against Biloxi, and Im at the line by myself, made the first one, and bricked the second one. We lost by one. Still think about it. |

single season tackles record at my HS as a junior 172 I believe was the number. I honsetly didn;t know I had even set the record until two year later when some
kid from the team came up to me in the grove and told me he almost broke it. As far as I know it still stands. my senior year, I turned down a scholly at
lambuth to drink at a near professional level at Ole Miss. It's not like I was gonna make money playinig football anyway.
The only other thing that comes close would be almost pinning a two time state champ (who was undefeated for two years) in the state wrestling touney while wrestling up 2 weight classes. would've probably gotten the pin or at least won on points had I not dislocated my shoulder. that mother fucker still hurts sometimes. of course reinjuring it while maxing out on bench press in college probably has a little to do with that. That was a nice visit to the days of High School Sports hero, now back to the drudgery of work and family. |

that gave us the lead for good in the 05 playoffs. Got to North half that year only to be slaughtered by Clarksdale 45-7, who we had beaten earlier in the year
35-17.
I still imagine a scenario where the 13-0 Rebels are a mere second or two away from kickoff against USC in the Rose Bowl
for all the marbles and then good lord baby Jesus shows up in the clouds to call me and all the other good Rebels home... what do we do? Accept our eternal
glory or stick around to see if our boys can seal the ultimate deal?

Well, I think I'll get saddled up and go looking for a woman. . . . Shouldn't take more than a couple of days.
I'm not picky. As long as she's smart, pretty, and sweet, and gentle, and tender, and refined, and lovely, and carefree...

Balling out-of-control in a central MS summer league against the likes of Charles Rhodes, Al Jefferson, Charlie White, and a little known point guard named
Pierre Barlow who might not be a recognizable name but was the best point guard in the league and went on to play d-2 i think. The highlight was throwing an
alley-oop to Rhodes that summer and him reminding me of it when I saw him after an Ole Miss-MSU game.
