I love how how they have no problem with where he ranked Bama. They're just pissed because they can't comprehend Ole Miss being better than them.

Nutt calls the plays, he calls the fakes, and he does it very well. He makes great adjustments, and he motivates the team at halftime effectively (see down 10
@ Florida at-the-half) Ole Miss ran several critical fakes last year and had a 100% success rate. Nutt gameplans very well, but I would say Sabans a better
game planner.
But that's indicative of a defensive coach. Saban schemes like no other, weeks in advance. Nutt thinks better on his feet. Play-by-play.

I'll agree. | #22 | ||

If Nutt can win 9+ games a year, get on ESPN GameDay, and continue to get exposure for Ole Miss he won't have to recruit, they'll be knocking down the
door to come to Ole Miss. But what will be really interesting is what happens if he goes 7-6 how the next season turns out. To me a 7-6 first year is more in
favor of a Saban type coach, not a Nutt type coach.

I think the main point that has been missed in all this is | #23
|
that Tim Brando is a monumental self aggrandizing douche. What he says about anything is meaningless to me.

they seem like polar opposites to me | #24

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Saban is pretty much his own Def. coordinator, whereas Nutt is his own Off. coordinator. As a side note though, I
think Austin does have a lot more input than other coordinators Nutt has had. They also seem to differ in personality. Saban has the personality of a cinder
block, and even if you hate Nutt, you have to admit dude is very at ease in front of reporters, cameras, etc. Both are great coaches though and seem to get the
most out of their respective programs though.

I do disagree with him about our running game last year. I think it was better than he let on.

who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'. Kurt Vonnegut, Timequake, 1997

Another good call was Brando going off on the guy | #27

that said Jevan Snead was an average QB at best. I thought Brando was going to jump through the radio on his ass....hahaha.

Agree he went a little overboard downplaying the running game. | #29
|
He also went overboard saying Jevan had to do everything. His response to the idiot that called Jevan an average QB could've been better. I would simply
have pointed out it was his first season as the starting QB and there is a learning curve and he played significantly better in the second half of the season
after he had a few games under his belt. "Shane from Centerpoint" is a fucking idiot and obviously didn't watch any Ole Miss games other than the
Bama game.

If you go back and look at the stats we were 60/40 in favor of the run last year, which I believe ranked us as about the 3rd or 4th most run heavy team in the
SEC. Florida was the most run heavy I believe, which had a lot to do with them beating everyone by 40 and spending the second half of games coasting to the
finish.
Either way, we didn't put the game on Snead's shoulders completely. However, I do understand the point Brando was making. The caller was trying to use completion percentage as an argument that Snead was no better than JPW. That's an unfair comparison, because JPW was not asked to make tough throws, and he wasn't asked to do very much within the passing offense. They kept it simple in the passing game, and most of his deeper throws involved "throw it to Julio" as a strategy. Snead ran a much more complex passing offense and made a lot more difficult throws on the year. That leads to some incompletions of course, but at the same time, our passing game was much more difficult to defend than Bama's last year. Snead made a lot of NFL caliber throws last year. If you ask JPW to make all the throws Snead made last year, he'd have thrown a lot more INTs, had a sub-50% completion percentage, and Bama would've lost a game or two more. |
