If not, or even if we do, what former athlete do you think would liven up the board some? Could be any sport. What former sports personality would contribute the most to what this board is about?

Are any of you goobers a former OM athlete? |

SPS has Bulldog Bruce (former baseball player Bruce Castoria, I assume) post on their board from time to time. Do we have an OM equivalent here?

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists
who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'. Kurt Vonnegut, Timequake, 1997

I'm Archie Manning. I played at Ole Miss back in the 60's and 70's. Some of you oldtimers might remember me. We won a Sugar Bowl one year.

I second Lewis. E O busted 2 assignments against Mem in 03 that led to 14 points... | #25

in the 1st half. Got toasted so badly against Texas Tech in 03 that they pulled him out on 3rd downs for the rest of the season. Obamandu's drop was the
result of Oliver being out of position - he should not have been open. In 04, besides Wyo he had a coverage bust against UT that resulted in their game
clinching TD. He was awful.
He was the slowest FS I can recall. |

But he caught the game clinching interception v. Fla on '03 | #26

though to be fair, my grandmother could have caught that wobbly duck. EO sucked, and I remember people bitching about Wes Scott being in the game. At least Wes
knew where he and everyone else should line up.
Chris Wallace: "They say that Shepard Smith is like a landmark there (Oxford). It's Eli Manning and Shepard Smith."
Shepard Smith: "Yea. There's a statue to me right there at the end of the bar." |

how can you blame eo? | #29

I would blame Cut. Eric just played where Cut put him on the field. He was a lb playing SS because Cut was an idiot.
I also think he played with more passion than anybody on the team. He looked like he lived and died by every play. Ashlee Palmer actually reminds me exactly of Oliver...except he wasn't forced to play a position he was too slow for.

Oh I agree. He was not a SEC player. He tried but he wasn't good enough... | #31

Worst free safety we ever had. Couldn't run and didn't know where to line up. Cannot fathom how Cut/Drieshbach, etc., had him playing FS. Most
important position in that abomination known as the 4-2-5. That was absolutely the most piece of shit defense we ever ran. From 2001 (Lindsey) to 2004
(Driesbach) we had absolutely the 2 worst defensive schemes known to man.
As to Oliver, I understand he ran a 4.9 on pro day. Never could understand why he played. Of course, if he played LB, I guess he would have been starting instead of Willis. We should've fired Cut...oh wait... |

the only good thing about EO was he was and is still the only SEC safety I could out-run.

Never a superstar NFL type , but I was gritty and was the hardest working mofo on the team (many will confirm this) . Was told by Bisacia , after he went to TB
that if he had 11 guys with my heart that they'd win the Super Bowl....they proceeded to in the Super Bowl that year. I never filled the stat columns but I
played on every special team for two years as a walk-on 6'1" 215 lb DE !
And TImes was a great ballplayer for the Diamond Rebs ....if I remember correctly an injury cut his time short. So then he decided to umpire our legion games and was brutal ! |

Actually, he may have started ahead of Lanier Goethie or LP Spence. | #34

We had some LBers that could play...just in a shitty scheme.
The fact that Kelvin Robinson was a SS in '04 and an OLB in '05 tells you all you need to know about that defense.
