I don't really have a "funniest movie." I am partial to quite a few though. Monty Python ... Holy Grail: best british comedy although Hot Fuzz is
awesome too. The Faraley brothers do great stupid humor like Dumb and Dumber, and Something about Mary. Caddy Shack is hands down the best sports comedy ever.
Death to Smoochy is a pretty solid dark comedy. Leslie Nealson has done some quality silly movie work the best of which is probably "Airplane!" Judd
Apatow pretty much has the "drunk, filthy, guy humor market cornered, but I'm afraid they are getting close to overdoing it. Superbad and knocked up,
while funny, are dangerously close to being the exact same jokes in a different setting.
Anything named "________-Movie" is terrible. maybe I just missed the part of my life where those spoof movies were funny, but everytime I see one of those trailers I lose my mind. Slapstick and spoof humor is good, but it's clear that the ____movie series is aimed at a High school/moronic audience. |

comedies. CaddyShack was a great comedy that occurred at a golf course. Still great. Caddyshack 2 was absolutely one of the worst movies ever.
With regard to OM football from 2005 to 2007, I would equate it as a very dark comedy. The incompetent handing of the firing of Cut by Boone, the hiring of O, the scrambling to show O was a good hire, the Hummer commercials, the chancellor talking about O's good looks, the daytime fireworks...gold jerry gold.... It will be high comedy if the same thing happens at UT.

Charlton Heston was the funniest motherfucker on the planet until the Alzheimer-NRA thing... although come to think of it, that was pretty fucking funny, too.

Animal House should be shown to every 14-year old boy in America and told, "That's exactly what college is like", even if it's almost a lie.
Enrollments will skyrocket. That movie is responsible for my 8-year college career (3 degrees) and student loan debt. I know it word-for-word. Supposedly every
bit of it actually happened at Dartmouth, except for the dead horse and the hijaced homecoming parade, at the Alpha Beta fraternity.

Anchorman, The Big Lebowski, Wedding Crashers, Old School.
All of these provide great laughs and never get old.

I also loved the Bad news bears. to be honest, I liked the remake as well. I think it's one of the best remakes ever. sure as shit beats the
"remake" of walking tall. that was a true abomination. and like you said Caddy Shack 2 was a disgrace. I usually just pretend it never happened
because it takes away from the greatness that is the original.
I agree that the Coach O experiment will be high comedy as long as it's at UT. when it was happening here, it was just tragic. |

speaking of which, fierce creatures is a solid movie | #31 | |||||||

It was on a few times this weekend on HBO. I had forgotten how funny it is. John Cleese is always funny though, and it's got a lot of that typical british humor thanks to the Monty Python alums in it. |

I think some of you people are culturally deprived. Watch TCM more.
Old School? Anchorman? How much longer before someone mentions Talladega Nights? |

Coming to America should be in the discussion, and I noticed no one has brought it up.
I also think people forget / underestimate just how hard they laughed the first time they saw Friday. Seriously, go re-watch that movie (forgetting how much the sequels tarnished its rep) and tell me it doesn't deserve a mention here. |
