In fact, most of my friends are very conservative, and we get along because we have years of shared experience and so forth. But when you only know someone by
their online persona, which is limited as hell, things like this can cause a real skew.
Which is why I've always admired that this board (and SPS) have always had a very short leash on politics. |

I am not a huge fan. He did many things to piss me off. He also is no longer the President so is off my radar. Does disliking Obama have to go hand in hand
with liking Bush? There are actually very few politicians these days who have my respect. I tend to think that they are all in it for the power and money,
Republicans and Democrats alike.

as well as Duncan Hunter. Unfortunately, they don't seem to appeal to mainstream Conservatives. I think maybe it's because there is very little
bullshit about them. They don't 'play the political game' and for some insane reason most Americans have decided to reward those who do with
office. The 2 party system is as much responsible for the fuck up that is our government as is any single politician. System needs to be completely revamped.

Few people today are able to look at the party they most align with with a discerning eye. Most just assume that any politician who declares him/herself to be
a member of whichever party that person is also a follower of simply must be the 'cat's meow', with no shortcomings, faults, etc. I fall in the
group of few. In my experience, people who are befuddled by that are typical of people who fall in the other group and are either Democrats or Republicans with
absolutely no median ground at all and refuse to consider that the other party can ever have the right idea about something, forever and ever amen. I'm not
saying you're like that....I don't know you and therefore not in a position to make that judgment.

Fair. You can. I said before that I was out of line with the first comment I made. I think Palin got a raw deal from the media. Give her or any other
politician a hard time because of votes, stances on issues or whatever else, but stop it there. She was attacked personally like no other politician ever. I
simply don't think a pregnant teenage daughter is fair game. Maybe it's because I'm a mother that attacking the child or the mother because of the
child's actions pisses me off so bad. Therefore, I always feel a bit defensive of her whether or not it is warranted. Here, it was not warranted, I was
wrong. That's all. Hate away.
