resorts? Ive been searching around on the internet for honeymoon shit, and it seems they arent too bad for an all inclusive type place. I am specifically
looking at the whitehouse in jamaica. Any advice or hints would be appreciated. Had a buddy that did the one in the bahamas and raved about it but
researching i think that the whitehouse in jamaica would be more of what we would be interested in. Would really like to do st lucia with the sandals but the
flights are ridiculous. thanks in advance

Did it myself in the Bahamas (Royal Bahamian). The reason we chose that one is for the restaurants. It has 2 on site restaurants that have won multiple awards
(The Crystal Room, The Baccarat). Both were very good. They had a Benihana/Shogun style restaurant, an Italian restaurant, a restaurant on an island just off
short. All were very good in my opinion. We had a great time. The best part was, no one on the site was expecting tips that we could tell. And the service
everywhere we went on the resort was great, surprisingly, even without tips.
I had a friend that just got back from the one in Jamaica. They had some bad experiences, particularly in that there seemed to be a lot of under the table tipping going on. And they also didn't feel like they got the best service always. From my experience, I'd definitely recommend Sandals, but I'd just be sure that you choose based on what you want out of your trip. I'm into good food and laying around having drinks. If you're into side trips, exploring the island, or something else, you might not like the same place I would. |

Honeymoons in Jamaica are great and perfectly safe... | #3

I was at Couples Negril for a week and loved it...Pretty sure
my cousin went to the Sandals you were talking about (the one with the best/biggest pool).
We left the resort twice. Once for beach grilled lobster from the local rastas down the beach (awesome, $15), and another time to go deep sea fishing (it was awful compaired to Gulf coast deep sea fishing - don't do it) Otherwise, the resort had everything you could want or need. Choose wisely...and read plenty of trip advisor reviews. Most importantly, go all inclusive. It's alot more fun when everything is "free."

i appreciate it guys. Yeah, there were horror stories i heard about jamaica but the fellow assured me that the whitehouse resort they have in jamaica is
awesome. I just think the all inclusive shit is the way to go. If i want a drink i order it, if i want food i order it and if i want to just lay around and
do whatever i aint got to worry about bar tabs, meal tabs or whatever else. I will be there through christmas..
I am thinking about doing sandals for 6 nights and then flying back to orlando and doing disney world for 5 or 6 through new years |

I've stayed at an all inclusive hotel in Cozumel, and it is way better than staying at other places. Except when we went to the bars at night, we never had
money on us. It's like the whole place is your personal kitchen.

is incredible. Not cheap, but badass and worth it. All-inclusive but only 24 people there at a time. Very private...perfect for a honeymoon.
That is it for me in Jamacia.
Sonny took his pool cue, laid the drunk out on the floor.
Stuffed a dollar in her tip jar, walked out the door. |

I agree on all-inclusive. It's the way to go. You don't have to worry about budget. You don't have to figure out if you're spending too much.
You just go and get what you want when you want it. We ordered appetizers, soups, entrees, and desserts every night and had drinks with every meal because we
didn't have to worry about money. And if you didn't like what you ordered or you weren't that hungry, it didn't hurt to leave food on your
plate or order something.

I blew $300 on tips for drinks one trip. But if no tipping is allowed, awesome. I went to a Breezes resort in January and had a good time, laid back, no
worries.

my wife and I went to Sandals at St Lucia | #9
|
4 years ago for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. All inclusive is the way to go but there is so much shit to do outside of the resort that if you are
marrying a woman like I did you will drop a small fortune on excursions. One of the cool things we did outside of the resort was riding horses on the beach and
swimming in the ocean on the back of one. Incredible. Restaurants were great but the buffet food gets old quickly. No domestic beer on the resort but if you
like Heinken or some of the local stuff you'll be fine. The only thing that I really didn't like about St Lucia is it is freaking long way to get
there. We spent an entire day flying to the island. Of course we were flying out of Jackson but damn that day sucked. Also, the Sandals we stayed at also had
the golf course on it and it was pretty sweet and club rental was cheap. But like you said earlier, the flights are probably outrageous right now.

Whitehouse... | #11 | ||
|
My wife and I went last year in June. According to the travel agent, it was the 'newest' Sandals property. The food was average at best. Also, rarely
were more than two of the restaurants open at a time. We were really looking forward to variety of places to eat, but with just two restaurants open at a time,
we were disappointed.
Also, it is located by itself on the south shore, with limited activities. The 2 hour ride from the airport was awful. We did enjoy the snorkeling and a horse back ride in the ocean (which cost extra $$). Overall - not recommended. I want to go back to Jamaica but next time, we are going to stay on the north shore (Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, or Negril). I have co-workers that travel to the DR frequently (for work and vacation), and they highly recommend it over Jamaica. Also, tipping is highly discouraged at Sandals Whitehouse. |

one of the Sandals properties at Ochos Rios. That's where I honeymooned. If you stay in Ochos Rios, you can partake in activities & restaurants at
either resort. Dunn's River is pretty neat too.
Nice. Or, how about "you're and idiot". That one works, too. And you talk about incompetent. ....IndependenceBowlMainstay defending the honor of

Go somewhere boring and rainy. Don't give your bride a choice to staying in, ordering pizza, and finding some way to pass the time.

but you do need other activities...if it rained all week...I'm sorry that'd make for a suck-ass honeymoon. I can do that kind of shit in Birmingham.
I want to snorkel.
By the way...I've heard "couples" resorts have more comped activities than the other places... for us, the catamaran cruise to pirate's cove was free snorkeling is free horseback riding on the beach is free at the Swept Away location edited to add: we also both got a free 30 min massage. not bad.

Roy - If you go to Costa Rica, you can chill @ Xandari (Private small resort on a coffee plantation in the mountians outside of San Jose) for a couple of days
before you head to Punta Islita, My wife freaking loved it so much we ended up staying ther for a couple of days before and after Punts Islita. Good Luck.
