Since I live in Oxford, his wife asked me to help them find a good condo for sale for their son and his roommate. They will be sophomores in the fall. From what I gather they are looking in the $130,000 (or $1000 a month mortgage payment) range. They were looking at the Oxford Square Condos, but I told them they could probably do better. Anyone got any advice?

Were they they happy with their own purchases, etc... Right now there are threads on the front page asking about advice on HDTVs, rental property in Belhaven, guitars, and Hybrid vehicles. Why isn't the thread police jumping on those topics? If I go to a realtor seeking advice, then they're gonna tell me that the best condos just happen to be the exact ones they have for sale. Posts: 32 May 12, 2008 7:49 PM	I'll be a Junior in the fall, and just moved out of a house that I've been renting for a year. My dad and I are looking for a house/condo as a place for me to live and him to stay when he comes down for games, as well as an investment. Really, it all depends on what they want. Most condo neighborhoods in Oxford going in the 130's were built around 2003, so they will be getting in on the end of the development/short-side so they won't appreciate as much as the new neighborhoods going up (which are going for 150's-170's). If they are looking for a 3BR/3BA, I would suggest the Soleil (that's were we have been looking), Autumn Ridge, or Aspen Ridge. If they are looking for a 2BR/2BA they should go with Magnolia Grove, which is a new development going up now running in the 130's. They would be able to do a $1000 mortgage on all of those dependent upon what type of down payment they put to avoid mortgage premium intrest.

When you buy a car, you go to the car lot. When you need to look for a condo, you go to who has the most inventory. And you start wiht the internet where you don't have to deal w/an agent right upfront. Or you drive around and start looking. you can do this.
