I think it is Hughes or Blue Sky? If so, is it in conjuction with a wireless router? How are the speeds? Can you effiecently listen to music and internet
video feeds?
I am becoming a country bumpkin soon and MUST have high speed internets.
Works OK. I'd rather have cable or DSL but they arent an option out here. We listen to music and watch video all the time on it. The old hardware that
they had sucked but they have since replaced it with some newer stuff that works better.
and it's your only option other than dial up then it's going to have to do. It's expensive as shit and the speed sucks but dial up is worse.
I'll put it this way, every once in a while you could watch a baseball game on dot tv and it won't freeze up or just not work at all. You Tube kind of
works the same way on it.

I looked into it once. I seem to remember something about shared bandwidth. Seems they said that if you downloaded large files (movies or music), it would kick
you off for a while.

at&t and verizon also offer wireless internet. $60/month, but you've got to have a good cellphone signal at your house.
eta: it works on cellular technology, plugs into your usb port (so you can take it anywhere), so you have to sign a 2-year contract just like with a cellphone.

but where I am moving to, I would have better luck picking up a rock and talking into it. My AT&T phone also does not work. Only cellular south works
there. The expense is not really a factor. I work out of the home and the company pays for high speed connections/installs because we have to do yearly
training an what-not. I am worried about not being able to download music or view you-tube. It seems to be a hit or miss deal. Some say they like it, some say
it sucks. I wonder if the people who like it are only comparing it to dial up......Well, I gotta move, so we will see.
It is definitely better than dial up. Hughes has a Fair Access Policy which limits the amount of data you can download in a 24 hour period. Go over it and they
cut your bandwidth down to a trickle (worse than dial up) for a 24 hour period. You can pay more money for a higher ceiling on the FAP but it still sucks. You
can buy the equipment off ebay and then pay someone to install it. That's how I worked it and saved some money up front.
for the southern part of the sky. I will be OK in that regard. I too heard the upload speeds are actually the same as dial up, but I do not upload very much.
