I know you're just venting right now, but here's the kind of stuff that pisses me off: | #4 | ||
|
Here's a quote from after we beat Auburn last Sunday.
"We know we're good," Ole Miss first baseman Matt Smith said. "As long as we play our best game, there's no one that can beat us." What Win/Loss column has he been looking at? No. 1, we seldom play our best game meaning lots of people have beaten us, and No. 2, I'm not convince we are as good as they seem to think they are. Hey Matt, quit reading the player bios and play some damn ball!

That's my problem with this team. I think they've read too many of their press clippings, and also they've begun to think that things like hosting
regionals and going to Super Regionals are a given. There doesn't seem to be any concern when we lose because they think we'll be fine simply because
we're good enough.
In a way, I think it'd be good for our program if we get swept this weekend and stay home from the SEC and NCAA tourneys. I think the players in particular need a wake up call that in the SEC you can't just show up and expect to be good enough when you need to be. The reason our previous three teams played well at the end of the season is because they hated losing and kept playing hard until things started to go our way. I get the feeling this team is just sitting around waiting on a hot streak instead of picking up their focus. |

It's like they think they can turn our "best play" on and off. WELL THEN LETS SEE YOU FLIP THE FUCKING SWITCH PUNK!!!!!!!!!
And if they can, what are they doing when we lose, DECIDING to take the night off? Fuck, that crap makes me angry.

Dear Matt Smith | #8 | ||

You don't know shit. You sound like a fucking recruiting geek. On the field, where it counts, you are very beatable. It is your attitude that has
permeated and damaged this baseball team, and, through no fault of your own, you keep hearing how good you are from the very coaching staff that is supposed to
know better. Face the facts. You guys are not nearly as good as you think you are. You are not nearly as good as your coaches think you are. Once you
accept this, maybe you can accept that you have to play hard and smart in order to win in this conference. Your supposed talent hasn't amounted to jack
shit, nor will it, with your attitude.
Sincerely, The Entire Ole Miss Fan Base P.S. Stop swinging for the fucking fence every time you swing the fucking bat! |

You think Bianco is overpaid and a better stadium is bad right now? | #9 | ||
|
I'm not attempting to put words in your mouth, it's just how your post looked.
Better facilities are dang near always a good thing, nuff said on that. Bianco has took over a program that hadn't done squat in a while. Since taking over, OM has constantly been to Hoover, hosted regionals, and played in super regionals (even hosted a couple of those). Obviously, this year has been disappointing looking at the alleged talent and past 5 years accomplishments. At the same time, we're on track to make Hoover and predicted to go to the USM regional which is certainly winnable. Even if we get swept at KY and miss Hoover, along with missing out on playing at a regional, I give Bianco a pass. We have some freshman contributing pretty big this year which shows me the program isn't in the toilet. Henry was freshman of the year last year and while he struggled this year, he stands a decent chance of being SEC player of the year next year... he's certainly talented. Baseball is the most mental sport of the "big 3". Our team is very talented and has a mental problem... and yes, that falls on the lap of the coach. Keep in mind, this is the same coach that has built a program that most OM fans always wanted (up until this year). Also keep in mind, this year isn't over... we're pretty much in the same place MSU was last year. MSU turned an average season into an Omaha visit. OSU was also a boarderline regional bid last year and turned it into a NC. If someone tells me OM will see Omaha this year, I'd bet against them but not laugh. Before Bianco, nobody would even dare to say OM would see Omaha this year (in recent memory). After all that rant, I'll ask the question I always ask in these type topics... If you feel Bianco is the problem, who would you hire for the same amount of money? |

I'll kind of be willing to give Bianco a pass this season IF | #10 | ||
|
he fires some mother fuckers. The Reinstetle Experiment is over. He absolutely has to go. I don't really have beef with Mossberg or Laff, but Bianco should
be able to bring in some of the top assistants/smaller head coaches in the nation. Do it.
If he does that, I'll be less pissed about this season. However, there are some things that Bianco does that will happen regardless of who the assistants are. Things like playing Matt Smith in the field. Once we discovered Logan Williams has the ability to hit and field decently, Overbeck or Fuller should have been at first. Bianco did this same type shit last year with Petyon Farr. He never got hits and was slow, but by G.A.Y he was going to pinch hit every game. We've seen the same thing with Satterwhite. While our run support has been nonexistent on Sundays, it concerns me when Satterwhite gives up six earned runs in less than four innings and Bianco calls him "sensational" or whatever he said. I understand not throwing him under the bus, but saying that is absolutely uncalled for. |

Not that we should, but we could get | #13 | ||

Dan McDonnell back for the money we are paying Bianco.
Quite frankly, the trend since McDonnell's departure is not encouraging. The recruiting since his departure has suffered. And Bianco keeps doing stupid things, like batting Matt Smith fifth when he should be batting eighth, if at all. Or playing for the 3 run HR with a team not suited to do so (we are 11th in stolen base attempts this year, and 11th in slugging percentage...something has to give). Bianco has certainly earned the right to turn thing around, but at some point, you have to start to question whether he has what it takes, beyond the giant ego, to get us to where we all want to be. McDonnell proved it in his first season at Louisville. Was that a fluke? Maybe. And maybe he knows better than Bianco what buttons to push to make his team click. We all know McDonnell is an outstanding recruiter. |

top five or top ten in the country. He has been the best coach we have had since Tubberville, but this year has been a huge disappointement. We can't say
its om and we can't get anyone else because we pay him a lot of money and are upgrading facilities. I don't think he should be fired but I think he
may need a dear david cutcliffe letter.

Ole Miss is a top 10 job. We could get some great candidates. | #16 | ||

I am by no means saying we should off Bianco, but playing in the SEC with a huge new stadium and high salary would be attractive to about 98% of Div I coaches.

If McDonnell continues with his success | #18 | ||
|
In a couple more seasons we won't be able to get him.
I think Bianco needs good assistant coaches. I think he is a stubborn coach. If he surrounds himself with good quality assistants that can say something to him (unlike the 3 we have) he can have success. If Charlie Waite or Chad Steurbens is the next assistant coach we have, hes not going to have that success. |

Regarding finding a replacement for Reinstetle, | #19 | ||

I humbly submit my leading candidate. I know everyone is on the Dan McDonnell train but this guy was hitting coach on all those teams we like to brag about.
Maybe it is time he got a chance to sit in the first chair.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Courtesy: CitadelSports.com Release: 02/18/2008 Stuart Lake enters his second season as an assistant for The Citadel Baseball program. Lake is responsible for coaching the hitters and outfielders, as well as being very involved in recruiting prospective cadet-student-athletes. In Lake's first season, the Bulldogs showed marked offensive improvement, advancing their hitting mark from .296 before Lake joined the staff to .307 after just one year, while recording 47 more extra base hits. The Bulldogs set school records in home runs (70) and total bases (1,037) in the first year of his offensive tutelage. Zach Brown '07 posted career high marks in batting average (.353) and home runs (13) and was drafted in the 27th round by the San Diego Padres while Richard Jones earned Freshman All-America honors after batting .335 with 15 home runs. Lake joined The Citadel staff after spending three seasons as an assistant for the Ole Miss Rebels, where he was responsible for the hitters and outfielders. Ole Miss enjoyed three of the school's most successful seasons in history with 39 wins in 2004, 47 in 2005 and 44 in 2006. The Rebels hosted an NCAA Regional in all three of Lake's years, as well as two NCAA Super Regionals. The 2005 edition of the Ole Miss ballclub won the Southeastern Conference Western Division and the 2006 team won the SEC Tournament Championship. In Lake's first year at Ole Miss, the Rebels offense belted 14 more home runs than in the previous year and the team's .444 slugging percentage was 33 points higher than the year before. In addition, the Rebels topped the 600-hit mark with 614 base hits. In the 2005 season, the Rebels continued to improve offensively, producing more than 750 hits, scoring more than 500 runs and driving in 462 runs on the way to claiming the SEC Western Division title, the program's first in 23 seasons. The Rebels also had six hitters hit over the .300 mark that year. The 2006 season witnessed Ole Miss lead the extremely tough SEC in hitting as the Rebels batted at the .309 clip for the year and four Rebels finished in the top eight in the SEC in total hits for the season. The Ole Miss offense produced more than 700 hits for the second straight season as the Rebels won the SEC Tournament on its way to a second straight NCAA Super Regional. During his tenure at Ole Miss, Lake coached over 20 players who were drafted into professional baseball. A few notable Rebels were Chris Coghlan (Second Round/36th overall pick, 2006, Florida Marlins), Zack Cozart (Second Round, 2006, Cincinnati Reds), Stephen Head (Second Round, 2005, Cleveland Indians), Brian Pettway (Third Round, 2005, Toronto Blue Jays), Alex Presley (Eighth Round, 2006, Pittsburgh Pirates) and Seth Smith (Second Round, 2004, Colorado Rockies). That talented group included an eventual National League Champion (Smith), an SEC Co-Player of the Year (Head), a Golden Spikes Award Finalist (Head), an eventual member of Team USA (Cozart) and three All-Americans (Cozart, Head and Pettway). Prior to his stint at Ole Miss, Lake spent one season at the College of Charleston. In his only year with the Cougars, Lake served as third base coach, hitting instructor and outfield coach. Lake had two hitters drafted during his time at The Citadel's neighbor and rival school, with Lee Curtis getting drafted in the eighth round by the Boston Red Sox after hitting .399 and being named Southern Conference Player of the Year. Matt Lauderdale was also selected in the ninth round by the San Diego Padres. Lake began his collegiate coaching career at South Carolina in 1999, where he coached the outfielders, coached first base and assisted with the hitters. During his time at USC, the Gamecocks won three SEC East Division titles, two SEC Championships, played in three NCAA Super Regionals and reached the College World Series Championship Game in 2002. Lake helped two SEC Player of the Year winners during his stint as a Gamecock. One of those players, Kip Bouknight, was also the 2002 Golden Spikes Award Winner. Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Lake coached at Mid Carolina High School (his alma mater) and at Brookland Cayce High School in Columbia. Brookland Cayce won the AAA State Championship in Lake's second year in 1998. Lake also served as the head coach of the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League in 2000. In Lake's 13-year coaching career, he has coached over 75 players who have gone on to play professional baseball with 31 of those being drafted in the first 10 rounds. Seven of those 13 were drafted in the first round. Three of his players have been named SEC Player of the Year and one named Southern Conference Player of the Year. Two of his players have been named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List with one winning that coveted award. Lake has had 10 former athletes reach the Major League and Lake is one of the few who can ever claim to coach a player that eventually appeared in the Major League All-Star Game, World Series and the Super Bowl. Fuck losing and fuck Ole Miss football over the last 20 SEC games. And fuck the shrimpboat captain and the incompetent motherfuckers that hired him. And
fuck me too for being an Ole Miss football fan and graduate.
