My boss talks junk about the orange slice in my Lienenkeugel Sunset Wheat and says no real beer is served with a fruit slice.
So question is: Are Sunset Wheat, Blue Moon, Blue Heron, etc. real beers?
I vote yes.

Orange Slice in Wheat Beer |
Lead | |||||

Last night I went to a social event with my boss, a few coworkers and the summer interns that are here for a few weeks.
My boss talks junk about the orange slice in my Lienenkeugel Sunset Wheat and says no real beer is served with a fruit slice. So question is: Are Sunset Wheat, Blue Moon, Blue Heron, etc. real beers? I vote yes. |

Lime in Corona... | #21 | |||||
|
You put lime in Corona to disguise the strong flavor of rotten skunk ass. It's a shitty, shitty mexican beer.

But Corona Extra tastes like, in the immortal words of Bham, "chilled ass." With a lime.

Some weiss and hefeweizen beers are commonly served with a slice of lemon in North America. Blue Moon, however, is traditionally served with a slice of orange, as it is said to accentuate the flavor of the brew. Keith Villa of Molson Coors admitted the orange slice garnish was mostly for attention-getting when Blue Moon is served in a bar.[2] Many beer drinkers do not prefer fruit slices in their beer, since citric acid can eliminate the beer's frothy, flavorful head, and may prefer to have the brew served in a Wheat beer glass instead. |

was only down with water, hops, barley and yeast. I'll throw a lime in a Corona but frankly, Purple Haze is about as far away as I get from water, hops,
barley and yeast.

Blue Moon isn't cilantro, it's orange and coriander. Our rebel club meetings used to be at | #25

the brewery in Memphis. And since Blue Moon is made by Coors, it counts under the stupid big company rule or whatever anyway. As for Corona, i think it's
a shit beer anyway. Any beer that is only good with a lime is no good, but a beer that is good without lime gets better sometimes. Hell, Miller Lite is good
if you put lime in it. I like a squeeze of lime in a lot of beers, and wanting to try new Tecate Light. Also, that Tang stuff, the lemon/lime salt stuff, is
pretty tasty in a cold beer.

Coriander, Coriandrum sativum is an annual herb in the family Apiaceae. The name
'coriander' in a culinary context may refer to either the seeds of the plant (used as a spice), or to its leaves (used as a herb); however, in North
American countries, for example, the name Cilantro is given to the leaves.

I will grant you that coriander tastes SUBTLY different from cilantro, but | #29

I ain't buying the COMPLETELY different thing.
I do, however, stand corrected on the cilantro/coriander component in Blue Moon. I tend to interpolate the two. BTW... how's Texas?

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat is of course the standby, but it's still good. I love Pete's Wicked Strawberry Ale, one of the few beers for me anyway that is
actually thirst quenching. I didn't know Abita had a strawberry beer, are you sure you aren't thinking of Purple Haze, which is raspberry flavored
(and it's pretty good as well).
I've always frowned upon people being snobby or picky about drinking. It's your money and your liver, drink what you like.

Yep, I'm very certain it is a strawberry brew. Abita is a client of ours and I'm pretty familiar with their lineup. I am not a fan of their Purple
Haze as it's a bit sweet for my tastes. My wife likes it though.

I really didn't like Cherry Wheat. | #33

At least in my experience, you get the flavor of beer then the flavor of cherry syrup, rather than the cherry being part of the overall beer taste.

there's a couple of good locations for obscure brew here in Starkville.
To answer the original question of the thread, I really don't care for the orange in my Blue Moon. But aGAIN, to each his own.

Is one of the most disgusting beers i've ever tried in my life. Me and some buddies were trying some new beers several months ago and one of the six packs
we picked up was that shit. We left four of them in my friends fridge. That shit tasted like you poured out half a natural light and filled the bottle the rest
of the way up with cherry kool-aid, and I'm a big fan of Sam Adams. And yes I agree that the Strawberry Abita is a tasty brew.
