.) It is exceedingly easy to bring alcohol into the stadium. For the Saturday night game, there was a gate down the first base line with nobody checking tickets at all. I brought in a cup with beer in it and a pint of bourbon. I saw a couple people bring in styrofoam coolers and coolers with straps on them.
.) I got stuck sitting next to a guy Sunday who was drunk, talkative, and knew absolutely nothing about sports. I considered stabbing his eyes out with a spork, but I didn't want to get kicked out.
.) We got free tickets to the Saturday night and Sunday games, including two hospitality passes which included free beer. Score for the college kids.
.) Apparently, Wesley's Boobie Trap outside of Jasper observes the Sabbath. I was disappointed because I wanted a t-shirt.
.) I hate LSU, but for the most part I always end up meeting very nice LSU fans. I've been to a football game in Death Valley and got the usual "Tiger Bait" and "Go to Hell Ole Miss" stuff, but for the most part everyone was very nice. We tailgated Sunday with some LSU people parked next to us who were really nice, and we got free tickets from the LSU closer's parents on Saturday night.
.) It is beyond me why anybody would buy reserved seats at the tournament. We had general admission for every game and sat on the first 10 rows every time.
.) Those guys from CBS who made the video about right field a few weeks ago were at the tournament. We talked with them for a little while and they said that Oxford was by far the most fun they'd had on the trip. They said they went to the Library after the game, got drunk as hell, and don't remember driving to their hotel in Tupelo. I don't support drinking and driving in any way, but it's nice to hear about people from different areas of the country enjoying Oxford.
