Who would you have rather signed since both are fully qualified?

I think the immediate need was Davis, since we are lacking any depth at RB, and actually have some decent players at WR, but I think Brown has the best chance of being an All American and NFL draft prospect out of the two.

I would probably take Davis, but only because WR isn't such a need.

Also, in Nutt's offense Im not sure a stud WR will get spotlighted.

The only position I would prefer over a big time RB would be a big time QB.

First, there is our need as discussed, and second there is the importance of position as discussed. Opposing teams will double him constantly since they have nothing else and you need a good qb to go w/ the good receiver (see Monk for Ark.).

A great RB is going to touch the ball 20-30 times a game. A great WR will touch it 6-8 times a game. I'll always go with the RB in this situation.

I've always heard that, if you can't run with the big dogs, you should stay on the porch. My question is, why does one's inability or lack of desire to run with big dogs confine him to the porch? Why shouldn't such a man be allowed to roam the rest of the house or even go for a nice walk in the park?

Don't forget we have Thomas, who was a parade all-american from san antonio. Keep this in mind, we aren't fucking mixing and matching like we did with O. We have a stable of RB's that will explode on you. Brown will flunk out 1st semester and plus they don't have anyone that can get him the ball. Those assholes and their partial qualifyers won't last long. I forsee Brown and Eustachy hitting the clubs together. We are serious this year folks. Love it or leave it.

We should be able to have a decent running game.

My worry about Bolden and Davis is holding onto the ball.

People talk about Davis being a speed back, but I doubt he is a sub 4.5 guy from the video I've seen.

i agree that davis is a good player, but everybody is going to agree on him because he signed. if it were the other way around everybody would be saying that brown was the better pick uyp.

I think what most people are saying is that you would always take a good RB over a good WR. It's not really a comparison of Davis versus Brown, because we don't know how good either will be. They could both be first round draft picks, or they both could suck. As of right now, all they are is highly touted recruits. So in that case, you're basically choosing which position you think is most important.

In all cases, you'd rather be strong at RB moreso than WR, because RBs touch the ball a lot more than WRs. And even if you look at our team, we have a stable of proven, solid WRs. We have no proven RBs, so RB is more important. It's less homerism, and more logic that people are saying Davis.

That has become a knee jerk reaction on this board to anyone being semi-positive about the program. We are looking at a guy that Auburn desperately wanted and a guy that LSU dropped. A good question above, is why don't we have both? I understand that Brown might be a grade casualty down the line but isn't it the job of the coaches to keep him in school and qualified for three years. We can't afford to ignore this type athlete.
