he's legit. I actually don't mind recrootin' talk in July, but this year it's getting tough to stomach because we're getting our asses handed to us. We have to win this year to have a shot with some of these guys, including Woodson.

He's the guy that said in the interview something like, "Man, I don't keep up with nothing like that. I don't know what any of that is." He said he made a 15 on his ACT but didn't know if he'd re-take it or not.

I've always heard that, if you can't run with the big dogs, you should stay on the porch. My question is, why does one's inability or lack of desire to run with big dogs confine him to the porch? Why shouldn't such a man be allowed to roam the rest of the house or even go for a nice walk in the park?

i really don't mind missing out on this particular player but at some point, nutt needs to concede the fact that he is in the land of shitty high school's and put together "a plan." How long until we are off the ncaa watch list? I guess we need to get !$!# figured about before that happens. maybe they told us, no funny shit until !$!#-gate is over.

I am beginning to get a bit nervous, but I am telling myself that Nutt has to double up on wins to convince some of these kids that he is A) a genuine head coach and B) here to stay. I have a friend on the coast whose nephew is a lower tier Div 1A prospect, he was told by at least two SEC schools that Nutt will be gone in two years.

HN: Walking out to the bus after we played Ole Miss here this past year, I had about five or six people from Arkansas following me out and saying some pretty bad things, even though we won 44-8. I'm on the bus waiting for the motorcycle to get in front of us, and there's this elderly couple with Ole Miss on their hats knocking on the bus door. I told the bus driver to see what they want. They'd seen what some of the Arkansas people were saying and said, 'If they don't want you, we'll take you over here, Coach Nutt.' You talk about ironic. Who would have ever thought?

..along with a million other things (worst in SEC, no national prominence, even racist slants)...OM really doesn't have a lot going for it right now(I know, I know...HN is a proven coach...SEC West...Darren McFadden...but none of that happened at 0(le Miss) and 8,)...As for Woodson, I have been watching him since he was in the 9th grade, and he has been a STUD for 4 years. If he makes it to college (and by committing to Bama and being on the Plan, he has a legit shot), he will be a star...best player to come out of Olive Branch...

A Level 5 football factory, but not very far removed from South Panola. Their coach couldn't give a damn less if his players go to class or make decent grades. As long as they win, that's all he cares about. And I know for a fact that "No pass, no play" is nonexistent there, and that athletes' discipline/behavior problems are commonly swept under then rug.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any significant college players who have come from there. I know we (MSU) signed a couple of players from there 2 or 3 years ago and they've never amounted to anything. Of course, South Panola's contribution to college football is pretty damn small considering how great of a high school program they've had for the last 15 years or so, but at least they have had several who have done well in the major conferences.

"No pass, no play" does not exist in public school. My high school (Madison Central, and one of the best academic schools in the state) had several players that were dumber than hell and I know had failing grades. They played anyway. The same goes with discipline problems. Sometimes they would get in trouble, other times their actions would be overlooked. (I am referring to discipline inside the school building, not discipline on the team. The coaches didn't put up with bullshit during practice.)

That's just the way athletes get treated at school.

There are 3 preseason all sec players from South Panola this year in Pegues, and the Jerry brother. Is there another high school in the southeast that can claim that many?

..eh...not until recently has OB turned out multiple D-I prospects (within the last 5-7 years). OB has been one of the top tier schools in MS over the past. And the no pass, no play doesn't exist...its more like don't pass...get a tudor/change to a LD classroom; and thats anywhere. Zorak, do you have/know someone that goes to another DeSoto County school and have a little jealous bone...Methinks so

And as for panning out, nope...not really. A. Walker and Summers (if they play) will be the first to play a lot/make a contribution out of all the players that have left (We don't count FG team do we? if so, add James "Good Rebel" Campbell)

But this year is the exception, not the rule. When is the last time they've had an All-SEC football player? As dominant as they've been the past 10-15 years, I would expect there would have been more quality SEC football players from there.

I wasn't trying to be a smartass at all. Just pointing that out and asking an honest question if any other high school can claim that many? There have been plenty of bust from SP but Deshea Townsend, Dwayne Rudd, Cassius Ware, Johhny Jones, Toward Sanford, Eddie Strong, Derek Pegues, Peria Jerry, John Jerry, Jamarca Sanford, have all been quality SEC players from SP and I am sure I left out plenty. SP produces plenty of busts but it also produces its fair share of players. Surely there isn't another high school in Mississippi that has produced the players they have is there?

I happen to have an intimate knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes at OBHS...a helluva lot more knowledge than ANYONE on this board.

Just off the top of my head, I'd guess that Madison Central isn't too far behind that and they haven't had nearly the high school success that South Panola has. No question that South Panola has put out several damn good college players. I guess given their total dominance of HS school football the past 15-20 years, I expected a little more.
