Marlon Brown will be a Rebel. Nutt seals the deal with grandma a la Croom with Pegues mama.
I knew when I ran into Greg Byrne in the club level and he was carrying chairs from one side to the other that this guy would be good.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They see Arkansas as a school that made it to the SEC championship game three times under Nutt. They would give anything to have lost three times in the SEC championship game and to have averaged 8 wins a season. yes, this was actually posted on hogville. |

Last week before he came and visited I told a few of my friends I just had a feeling about him coming to Ole Miss. Didn't know why. Looks like it might
work out..
Patterson and brown... if it works out it's 2 of the top 5 national receivers in the same class. when was the last time Ole Miss even came close to having that kind of WR talent in the same recruiting year? We'll see. Edited to say: I want massie more. Hell, we'll get him too. ![]() ![]()

2007 came close | #3 | ||

AJ Jackson 5*****
Roderick Davis 4**** Lionel Breaux 3*** Funny how the lowest rated one has been the only one to amount to anything Not as highly rated out of high school, but 2006 had some real talent Shay Hodge 3*** Dexter McCluster 3*** Markeith Summers 3*** But if we get Patterson and Brown, maybe Scruggs, this one could be very special Patrick Patterson 5*****(on Scout, 4**** on Rivals) Marlon Brown 5*****(on Scout, 4**** on Rivals) Lamar Scruggs 4****(on Rivals, 3*** on Scout) Montez Phillips 3*** Terrell Grant 3*** I don't know if this WR class will turn out as good as 2006's, but if stars meant anything (they don't) we should be in good shape at the WR position. EDIT: When was the last time we had a WR that contributed that was over 6'4"? Ever? (Carlos Suggs doesn't count)

Melvin Harris, 6'6" (for real) and is the guy that does the backflips when we win. He "played" the Crabtree role during bowl practices.
Has put on about 20 lbs over fall semester (skinnykidku).
Agile and has some serious jumping ability. Could be a good one.

the only other recruit worth mentioning that you will get is Pat Patterson. And that's not even a done deal, you might get out-bid.
Brown and Massie = not going to Oxford. |

Both being more sought after at their respective positions than anything trying to get into MSU. So your saying that if we get Patterson we will have out
recuited you at WR, DL, QB, DB, LB, OL, RB and kickers? And we have proven coaches. Oh, whatever will we do?????
edited to add RB since I forgot about Scott and Neat and Simon and . . . |

drcurly wrote:I agree with you partially. That 2007 class only had ONE of those 3 receivers even make it to campus. There's no telling what they could have done had they all gotten here. Granted the whole "brent schaeffer to AJ Jackson" connection we were all hoping for would have probably gone to shit. 2006 was easily the most productive WR class we've had in awhile, and I think we'll see that this year when all 3 of those guys are starters in some capacity. Also, It looks like we're slow playing Scruggs because of the other 2 guys we have on the board, so we'll probably take 2 more receivers at the most towards the end of this thing. Oh and i would NEVER mention suggs as a big time contributor to this program... he just got dramatically overhyped. Next year though could look like this: pat patterson, marlon brown, markeith summers, shay hodge, dexter mccluster, and melvin harris, and lionel breaux all getting playing time.... and you know what the best part is? we have a QB who can get them the ball ![]() ![]()

Yep, and next year when Melvin Harris is going up and getting jump balls, I want everyone to remember that he was a freaking 2 star.
I took one look at that kid's video when he committed, and you could tell he had the speed and size to be a big time receiver regardless of what the sites had to say. I really don't know how so many schools missed out on someone with his size and ability. And Goat, please, as with everything else, you're getting way ahead of yourself with your predictions. |

I didn't remember his star ranking | #14 | ||

and, at this point, I didn't even care enough to go look it up. I've become an anti-star follower. I'll abide that the recruiting sites do a fair
job on those 4-5 players, but they sure miss some good ones that fall into the 2-3 area. Do you remember who all offered him? Seems like I recall someone
(Auburn, maybe?)getting on him late last year.
Melvin put on some good weight this year. Unknowns are his speed and hands, but coaching staff bragged him up pretty good during bowl practices. One thing for sure is he is one long-rangy guy with some serious hops.

The backflips obviously show his athletic ability, and I seem to remember from watching his video that he looked like he had pretty good breakaway speed when
he got into the open field. When you're 6'6 with long legs, it's hard not to be able to cover ground quickly.

Too bad Memphis doesn't use him nearly as much or like they should. An NFL WR coach will. Just like you can't speed, you can't teach
6'8".

One bad thing about Marlon Brown | #17 | ||

He's still set to visit Florida, complete with recent NC and SECC trophies. I'm sure TN has a good shot too, they've got that gay dude that's
always bragging about buying recruits.
