The Office made its name by branding the interpersonal relationships and doldrums of actual office work. The problem now is that the entire nation is watching,
and you can feel them gravitating towards too much romance and way too much exposition. The Kevin/Holly bit was genius because it was great character work, and
the whole bit was hiding in plain sight - Kevin does seem retarded.

Agree with all that... | #3

the more they chase storylines, the more they get away from what made it so damn funny.

changes. Ryan was great as the temp fending off Michael's weird man crush and dealing w/ his mistake in hooking up w/ kelly-now they have nothing to fill
that void. Jan was awsome as the foil to Michael's dumbass managing of the scranton branch-now they replace that w/ ryan who is also gone. But yet they
decide to run the pam and jim romance into the dirt????

Is it because the actors are also the writers and producers? | #5

Some of them want off the camera so they can focus only on one aspect at a time? On the Office live blog last night, the Toby guy said he was more than glad to
write himself off the show.

I love me some Amy Ryan. | #6

I first noticed her on The Wire. She was excellent in Gone Baby Gone. And now I get to enjoy her milfness every Thursday.

The aborted proposal and Pam's move to New York point towards the ending of their office romance. Mercifully.

Unless, of course, Jim takes Ryan's old job.

Pam's only going to be in NYC for three months for school. < That's really sad I can discuss The Office ad nauseum.

But the look on her face when she said, "I really thought Jim was going to propose tonight." They may not break up, but I see them throwing a monkey
wrench into the romance as part of the story line. Which is fine.............the courtship and will she, won't she was a good part of the show.
Damn, we sound like a bunch of women on the Desperate Housewives board or something.
