If it is another damned running back, I will continue to wonder whether we plan to play tackle or flag football next year.

It's a running back. | #3 | ||

He's 5'4" 136 and he is the PERFECT candidate for the Wild Rebel.
In reality, it's a defensive lineman from GA. |

6'3" 235 lb DL that Rocker evaluated. | #4

He has one other offer from UCF and got a second chance from his H.S. coach after being charged with a B&E. But that was evidently the only time he's
ever been in trouble and he straightened up after that incident.
He has not been evaluated by either recruiting service, thus no stars yet. Florida quarterback Tim Tebow bows his head in dejection

arguing that their class is miles above our class.
When shown the facts, he changes the argument. He recently has come to the conclusion that his class is vastly superior to the Ole Miss class due to the fact that Oden (OT) was upgraded to a 4* and, therefore, their class went from a 2.77 avg rating (ours was 2.78 before the 1star) to a 2.86. Because one recruit got an extra star, his class is miles above Ole Miss'. Not to mention the fact that only 9 out of 21 of ARK commits have more than one BCS offer, while (now) 10 out of 14 of ours have more than one. Oh, and he manages $10 million in assets daily....so he must be brighter than anyone that could ever argue with him....despite the fact that he said we had 15 commits when we have 13. |

wonder if his assets are down to $5mm now? or did he | #6
|
manage $20mm 3 months ago? that said, we will have a better recruiting class than y'all this next year in feb '09 when it's all said and done. if
you feel otherwise, put your money where your mouth is. and for clarification, i'm only talking about high school signed commitments. no ryan mallets or
brod greens or junior college guys.

I can understand the transfer thing, but Juco players are damn important, especially along the lines.

Are you saying you want someone to bet you money on whose recruiting class is better? | #8
|
Surely that's not what you mean. If I'm reading your statement right, you want one of us to bet you money on what school brings in the best group of
18 year old athletes? A group of athletes whose true value will not be determined until 2 or 3 years down the road.
I would imagine you're going to have to take that stupid idea over to the Spirit and hope one of the sheep bites on that one. I'm quite confident no poster here is retarded enough to wager money on that. |

I'll give you some more Spirt Board recruiting evaluation VanillaFace. | #10

Cameron Wigham made the Atlanta Area All-Nike Team. Pretty much every other player on that list is rated 3 stars or better, therefore, we got a good player.
That's brilliant logic right there courtesy of ForRebels. I hate star-gazers. |

There was no hand wringing or gnashing of teeth over the lack of stars on this guy. He'll have some by Feb. anyway.

This is why I stopped following recruiting... | #12
|
This right here. So in Feb 2009, you will decide who has the best recruiting class? Really? Based on stars? Offers? High School stats?
Don't even need them to show up and play the games for the next four years? I remember the star average debate and the total star debate, like somehow it affects whether or not we win a damn football game. The best recruiting class on paper ever for Ole Miss was in 2001 with Spencer, Biddle, Espy, and their Junior and Senior years were unmitigated disasters, so does that make the 2001 recruiting class a success? Also, if you haven't noticed both Rivals and Scout are trying to eliminate the "two star" player. Basically everyone is now a three star. Several years ago they eliminated the "one star" player and it appears they are trying to do the same thing with the two star player. Pretty soon there will be 50 five star players, 200 four star players and 2000 three star players. Im just glad Ole Miss basketball should be good this year, so I don't have to debate after debate about who offered who. I actually trust the staff in place to make solid decisions. |

I hear ya loud and clear. | #13

Between Patrick Willis having been a two star and Chris Strong having been an Army All-American, I was able to convince myself that most recruiting hype is a
waste of my time.
Certainly, as with any organization, the regular influx of new personnel is important to a football team, but obsessing over it like the Mel Kiper wannabes over on The Spirit is maniacal.

They know what they're doing with the OL and DL. I don't care who offered or what their stars are. Those guys have had solid SEC lines for years at
ARK, and Markuson has had the best run blocking OL in the SEC for years.

Evolution | #15 | ||
|
One day, man is going to evolve to the point where he knows that recrootin' stars and recrootin' rankings and "hot lists" and all that hype
is meaningless shit.
And, as is always the case with evolution, those in Arkansas will lag behind. |

See the past five years of Missouri's recruiting... | #17
|
Pretty uninspired, but they've whipped our ass every time we played them, even under the Recruitinator himself.... On paper, we demolish them. In real
life, where it counts, they dismantled us. I suppose you could also point to Wake as another example; I haven't checked their classes, but I assume they
were also filled with two-star kids...
