this weekend. It's very hard to sweep, especially in a rivalry situation. I see OM taking 2 of 3 from State. Pomz or Buk will get rocked.

That is true. A lot of people aren't taking into account the Pomz home game Thursday night hangover factor into account.
I do see a good possibility that one of our pitchers gets rocked. However, what makes it hard to lose to MSU this year is that even when they rock your pitching, their pitching tends to do a pretty good job of getting rocked more. See 17-16 loss to Bama and 22-17 loss to UK. That said, I won't be shocked if one of their pitchers has a career game, and we lose at least one. You can never count on a sweep because of the "that's baseball" factors that come into play. As I've been saying, I'd rather not start looking at a sweep until we get the ball to Bittle with a 2-0 series lead. |

if we lose a game, it will probably be saturday. state's best pitcher is their saturday starter, and the worst of our 3 weekend starters will be buk on
saturday. i'm not saying he is bad, i'm just saying pom and bittle are better. their saturday guy also has something like 4 complete games, so
don't count on getting into the bullpen on saturday.

I remember some comment by Cohen saying "If their 2nd tier guys (Buk started) are doing this to us what are their real pitchers going to do". (not
exact obviously, but you get the idea)

I agree. I hope like hell we can get some long ABs. There's nothing I hate more than guys getting up, swinging at the first thing they see and grounding or
popping out. I certainly don;t think that you should just take the first pitch every time, but unless it looks like something you can really knock the shout
out of, I'd be happy with a strike and one more to add to the pitch count.
As far as the series, I still think it's a jinx to call for the sweep, but this is one we really should take even moreso than Auburn given the fact that it's a home game. You know damn well that LSU will be making a run at a sweep over the dogs (and likely getting it) and we sure can;t go expecting to make up a lot of ground the last weekend against Arkansas. |
